There are four basic criteria that must be met to recognize revenue.  Much has been written as to what they are, but relatively little about how to apply them within a practical framework.  This course not only examines the four criteria, but also provides a structure that can be used to dissect the variety of multiple element arrangements companies enter into every day.

Topics:

  • SAB 104 vs. SOP 97-2
  • The “RevRec” Approach to Multi-Element Arrangements
    • define the arrangement
    • identify the elements
    • separate the elements
    • allocate consideration
    • meet the criteria
  • The Four Criteria
    • evidence
    • delivery
    • fixed or determinable fee
    • collectibility
